On May, 17th, Norway is going to celebrate it's national day. Nothing new in itself, as this has happened each year since 1814. This year, however, there has been raging a debate - as much as a debate can rage in a country with so few and mostly lethargic inhabitants - as to what kind of flag should be used by whom.
How this debate came about is a long story. It has to do with immigration, racism and first of all, collective greed and envy. It is a saying that a Norwegian's envy is stronger than his/her sex drive, no such saying is there to descibe Norwegian greed, presumably because of a lack of words. It can be guessed what such timid narrow-minded attitudes mean for human beings who need the goodwill of their new fellow citizens to establish themselves in a worthy way among them.
But we won't leave it to guesswork, as the contrast between the possibilities Norway has and what it achieves is much too interesting. We are rather going to make a funny article series about it.
Stay tuned!
