UPDATED WITH FIRST TEST OF WPRemix2!

As important the content of your site is, the site design can help your visitors to find the information you provide for them. It might be important to you to highlight your videos, your images, related content or complex texts or series. Accordingly, your theme must emphasize these aspects to get your message across.

There are several professional themes available to you. The major ones are listed below with a short review and our test results.

Revolution Themes

These we really recommend. They do what they promise and more. It is up to your imagination. The code is extremely well documented. You can read it like a book or tutorial. A very great starting point for any beginner with WordPress themes. The support in the makers' website forum is excellent. A very pleasant experience. You will learn a lot and get new ideas. We tested the Magazine Theme at different sites, one of them you can see life here. This one took about 30 minutes to set up.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars inherent features and design

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars ease of use

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars compatibility and stability

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars support

Get your Revolution Theme here.

Theme Spinner

Extremely nice and powerful design with, for example, incorporated related posts. We tested the Tauren theme; you can see one of our implementations of it here. Be warned, as outstanding the design, as dreadful is the support and the compatibility with different web browsers. It is ok for Firefox, but not IE. Here you will have to code workarounds yourself, html and java script, as the support is not providing any. The support does answer emails one in a while, but the help is very basic. You are on your own with this theme. The code is not well documented and adapting it involves much guesswork and testing. This one is cool, but not for the beginner.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars inherent features and design

Rating: 0.5 out of 5 stars ease of use

Rating: 0.5 out of 5 stars compatibility and stability

Rating: 0.5 out of 5 stars support

If you dare, get it here.

WordPress Remix (updated!)

We tested version 1 of this theme, you can see our implementation here. It is somewhat time consuming to set up, depending on what you want it to look like and do for you. The developer is providing support. The package is complex and feature rich, but you will need time to get accustomed with it. Version 2, incorporating even more and some revolutionary features, has been released yesterday; stay tuned for our updated review in a few weeks!

The new version 2.0 ROCKS! There is also a forum open that will provide support, looks as if that will be a success, already users online there just after opening ...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars inherent features and design

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars ease of use

No rating yet for compatibility and stability (NO TIME TO TEST THAT YET FOR 2.0, version 1 was OK!)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars support

!!!Get WordPress Remix here, while it's hot!!!

This review page will be updated when we have new tests or updated information available.

Here's the review of our second attempt at the final test. It's been two and a half weeks since our first attempt. In the mean time Aurora had a small surgery and has been on "sick leave", which means that we have not been able to practice much. However, the wounds have healed and she's doing well.

I was a little more relaxed this time; actually I did not think we would pass this time either. It is still difficult to finish each of these exercises without using treats, and adding the fact that we also have a limited number of commands to use during this test makes it even more difficult.

OK, here's how it went this time:

1. Greeting and teeth inspection: 10 points Out of 10 - again a perfect start!

2. Walk on a leash: 7 points. Much like the first time we did the test. She was a bit slow and I had to pull the leash a few times to get her to follow at the right pace.

3. The heel: 8 points Yes, we did it!! She was still slow and walking behind me most of the time, but I avoided to take these looong steps and I used an extra command a couple of times to get her to speed up.

4. Down from stop: 9 points. I had to give the Heel Command twice to get her moving, she was really starting to lose interest of doing all these exercises at this point!

5. The Come command: 7 points. While waiting for the Come Command Aurora decided to lay down! Luckily I didn't see this; otherwise I had probably messed up the exercise! She was also slow coming towards me and slow to sit down. The worst I've ever seen her do this exercise!!

6. The Stand: 9 points. Again a double Heel command to get her moving... oh dear, she was really moving slow now! The Stand was very good, though.

7. Down and stay for 2 minutes: 10 points According to the referee she was laying still like a "chocolate mouse", we got the perfect score even though I had to give the Sit Command twice... I was worried she was falling asleep during this exercise!!

8. Referee's total impression: 10 points!!

Total: 158 points A total of 90 points is required to pass the test, also every exercise must be passed.

Very well Aurora, she's such a good girl!!!! Don't you agree?

After the finish I found out why she was moving so slow during this test... "someone" had given her a big portion of meat for dinner, she was so stuffed that she could hardly eat her treats after we finished the test!! (The idea was that she would not check out everything she would smell in the exercise area, so I guess it kind of worked!)

Sorry, no videos from this test - the photographer was too nervous!!

Online, reputation is key. It steers your impact.

It is impossible to monitor every venue showcasing public opinion and reviews. However, you can work to protect your reputation by registering your very own and unique onlinline identity with as many social and media sites and internet forums as you are able to manage, at least the important ones in your niche.

Just as you can yourself, anyone can register any name at a social or media site and, hence, pretend to be you. Else, they just tie up your identity, so you can't.

If you think it just take too much time to go around and establish your own unique online identity, consider the time ait will take to get the confusion straightened out.

Think about the added bonus in terms of refferals you'll get by your efforts of claiming your online idenity; many of the social and media sites allow links in their profiles, and media sites with your videos really can drive traffic.

Take initiative and register your online name on as many social and media sites as you can.

Be yourself!

A SEO problem?

According to an article published in BMJ, people researching suicidal methods on the Internet are more likely to find sites that promote suicide instead of ones that provide help and support.

It is known that suicidal behavior is influenced by the way the media covers suicides and how television and film approach the topic.

Recently, the popular press has reported on the availability and influence of Internet sites and web forums that encourage suicide in young people.

This led researchers from the Universities of Bristol, Oxford and Manchester to further study suicide on the Internet.

A total of 480 web addresses (the first ten from each search) and 240 unique sites were retrieved, visited, and viewed.

Contrastingly, 13% (62 of 480) of sites focused on suicide prevention or offered support, and 12% (59 of 480) sites forbade or discouraged suicide.

Of sites that were dedicated to suicide and sites with factual information, almost all offered information about suicidal methods.

Another interesting finding was that Google and Yahoo returned the most sites dedicated to suicide, while MSN retrieved the highest number of sites focusing on prevention, support, academics, and policy.

In the UK, suicide sites are legal and there is no regulation.

"It may be more fruitful for service providers to pursue website optimisation strategies to maximise the likelihood that suicidal people access helpful rather than potentially harmful sites in times of crisis," conclude the authors.

So, if you relly do have a good reason to kill yourself, as most of us probably do once in a while, Google and Yahoo are your friends.

After weeks and months of training the time for the final test was here! We had been doing well on the training sessions the last couple of weeks and I thought we were ready for the test. I was very nervous all day long, and there is a slight chance that Aurora noticed this!

We were the third ones up, we didn't watch the first dog, but unfortunately he failed. The second dog did a great job and passed with flying colours. Then it was our turn:

1. Greeting and teeth inspection: 10 points! (Out of 10 - perfect! A great start )

2. Walk on a leash: 6,5 points (she was a bit slow and I had to pull the leash a few times to get her to follow at the right pace...but we passed!)

3. The heel: 0 point! (We failed this exercise which means that we failed the test. Aurora was more than two dog lengths away from me; I was not able to keep her attention during this exercise today, there were lots of more interesting things to check out!)

After watching this video I can see that I need to practice more! I made some beginner errors here, just watch that long first step after stop - the dog is already far behind me when I'm at my second step!

The rest of the exercises we did just for the practice :

4. Down from stop: 7 points (I had to give the Heel Command twice to get her moving, and she was laying down looking to the side)

5. The Come command: 6,5 points (I had to call twice, she was slow to sit down and she was sitting down a bit to the side. However, she was very fast running towards me. Not sure why we only got 6,5 points on this exercise!)

6. The Stand: 8 points (can't remember what the problem was here, probably a double Heel command)

7. Down and stay for 2 minutes: 8,5 points (double command to make her lay down and to get her to sit up.)

8. Referee's total impression: 8 points

Total: 109,5 point (pretty good ... but we still failed )

There were 5 dogs taking the test this day and only two passed the test. It seemed like the dogs found it a bit strange that there weren't any others dogs around when they did the exercises. When we practice there's always other dogs nearby.

We decided that we would make another try in a couple of weeks. After all, Aurora can do these exercises very well on a good day!
